CITY ST AFF. In the first issue of the Resident we'd like to introduce the Ramsey City Sta ff . We in Ramsey are fortunate in that we have an excellent staff working for our City. The flexability of the Staff has resulted in a team that is smaller in size, yet more efficient than most cities. A good example of their dedication was the Public Works Dept. after our Dec 28th storm. They worked up to 22 hours straight in a successful effort to open up our roads and keep the squad cars moving. Dedication of this nature is very common among staff and you can feel confident that the City's interests are being handled extremely well by a staff that is knowledgable and flexible. Lloyd G. Schnelle is our City Ad- ministrator, a position he has held in Ramsey for four and a half years. He has served in the capacity of City Manager/ City Administrator for the past fifteen years. Prior to that time heserved in the United States Marines. Lloyd's immpecable standards and thoroughness have been of enormous value to Ramsey. He keeps abreast of the many levels of government which have an impact on the City. Lloyd and his wife, Barbara re- side in the City of Anoka. Clayton Berg is officially Ram- ey's Building Inspector although he fluctuates freely between buil- ding code enforcement and administ- rative duties. Clayton has been with the City since July of 1977, during which time he has done a superb job of overseeing the growth of Ramsey. He has an Associate of Arts De- gree in Applied Sciences and Buil- ding Technology. For the eleven years prior to 1977, Clayton served with the City of Columbia Heights in Enginee- ring and Public Works Administration. Along with his wife, Kathryn, dau- ghter Daphne (12) and son Clinton(9), Clayton resides in Elk River. Our Chief Accountant in Ramsey is Jeanne Moen. For the past five years she has handled our budgeting, mon- thly financial reports, annual finan- cial statements, investments of City Funds, fiscal analysis reporting and numerous other duties. 1wo years ago Jeanne unraveled our fire protection contracts with the cities of Elk River and Anoka which resulted in tremendous savings for the City. Jeanne has her Associate of Science Degree in Accounting. lives with her family here in Applied She Ramsey. Lester Wirz is our City Assessor and doubles as Building Inspector when Clayton is busy in another capacity. He has served with the City for the past seven years. Prior to this, Les- ter worked in construction and part- time assessing. His experiences and completion of many assessing and buil- ding courses has proven to be very beneficial to the City. 1 L J :J)uane : L I I IN OUR 11TH YEAR I . . During the last year, Lester has worked hard in an effort to get the County evaluation on farm land back in proper perspective. Lester and his wife, Norma reside in Burns where they've raised six children. Ramsey's Deputy Clerk is Sheila Beyer. Sheila started five and a half years ago with the City in the capacity of secretary/receptionist and has worked her way steadily up- wards. She assists the Administrator in the many facets of gov't and serves as clerk in local gov't ad- ministration. previously she worked at Control Data and the Pillsbury Co. for a total of six years. With her husband, Harlen and chil- dren, Jeff(14), Jenny (13) and Jason (11), Sheila lives here in Ramsey. One and a half years ago, penny Curtis (nee Ott), joined Ramsey's staff in the capacity of Secretary/ Receptionist where she has established herself as a hardworking, quick and reliable employee who is also delight- ful. to work with, Penny worked at the City of Elk Ri- ver as a secretary for .one year prior to graduation. With John, her husband of three months, Penny lives in Elk Ri ve r . Ramsey's Public Works Superintendent Merle Mevissen has been with the City of Ramsey for the past ten years. Mer- le, his wife and four little darlings Ii ve in Anoka. Prior to joining Ramsey, Merle ser- ved in the U. S. Army Corps of Engi- neers and attended North Hennepin Community College. Merle and his men are in charge of streets, parks and equipment mainte- nance. The excellent way in which they tackle their work was apparent last December. Michael Stenquist has been with the Public Works Dept. for the past six years. Prior to that he worked with Stenquist Excavating. With his wife, two daughters and two sons, Mick resides in Bethel. Daryl Saathoff joined the department sixteen months ago after leaving Al- lied Blacktop. He and his wife live in Maple Grove where they're busy raising twin daug- hters. Aside from the full time men, the following men work on a part time basis and were also responsible for the fine clean up in December: Dick Barstow Mark Boos Dave Hauan Dean Hauan Jerome Morrison Greg Tronson ~ City Administrator, Lloyd G. They were also a tremendous help with the 'Meet the Candidates' debates we held last fall. I would like to say thank you from the City Council, whose work is made easier by your participation.
