<br />3 Year Old Program

<br />PREP DESCRIPTION:
<br />The Preschool Prep Program is a program
<br />for four-year-old boys and girls during the
<br />school year prior to kindergarten and a
<br />newly designed program for three-year-
<br />old boys and girls. It generally emphasizes
<br />group socialization, communication skills,
<br />familiarity with colors, numbers, letters,
<br />and shape~, plus following "directions
<br />from someone other than a parent.
<br />Classes are. held two days each week for
<br />two hours at a time for thirty weeks from
<br />mid September through mid May. Vaca-
<br />tions generally correspond with District
<br />No. 11 vacations.
<br />The daily class schedule includes free
<br />play, story time, indoor or outdoor
<br />physical activities, music in forms of sing-
<br />ing and instruments, designed learn-
<br />ing/ exposure units, art activities, and
<br />discussion time. Preschool Prep also in-
<br />cludes a snack time with emphasis on
<br />nutritious snacks. The prdgram is struc-
<br />tured to promote individual and group
<br />learning and cooperation, yet leave time
<br />for the student to explore and create on
<br />his/her own.
<br />As part of our parent! child educational
<br />component, Preschool Prep will promote
<br />optional times every quarter that will
<br />facilitate parents accompanying their
<br />children to the center.

<br />
<br />Begins Another Year of Activities
<br />
<br />September 1st is the date set for the first Advisory Council meeting at Ramsey
<br />School this year. The group is beginning its fourth year of operation and has a full
<br />schedule of business to look ahead to.
<br />Throughout the school year, they will become involved in a number of activities
<br />at the school, including Open House, the Halloween Celebration, Santa's Breakfast,
<br />Family Fun Day, and a variety of other special programs and events.
<br />The Advisory Council serves as the main communication link between home and
<br />school and gives input to all aspects of the day school and community school opera-
<br />ti9ns. In addition, they lend financial support to special school lyceum programs at
<br />Ramsey using funds raised at the various events throughout the year.
<br />The group will be meeting monthly, usually on the second Tuesday of the month.
<br />The public is cordially invited to attend these meetings. Anyone interested in serv-
<br />ing on the group may contact the community school office at 427-9350.
