<br />SNOWMOBILE OPERATION RULES <br /> <br />Snowmobiling is one of <br />Minnesota's favorite winter time <br />sports and is a lot of fun if it is done <br />safely. Ramsey City at this time does <br />not have a snowmobile ordinance but <br />has adopted Minnesota Statutes to <br />cover the operation of snowmobiles. <br />The following are a portion of these <br />statutes that relate to snowmobiles. <br />1) All snowmobiles must be <br />registered with the State in <br />accordance with the provision of <br />Sections 84.81.to84.88. <br />2) All snowmobiles operated on <br />a public street or highway must have: <br />--One headlamp and one tail <br />lamp and reflector material <br />of a minimum area of 16 sq. <br />inches mounted on each side <br />forward of the handle bars. <br />--All snowmobiles must be <br />equipped with a muffler in <br />good working condition. <br />--Must be registered and the <br />registration numbers clearly <br />visible on the snowmobile. <br />3) You may operate a <br />snowmobile on Ramsey Blvd., <br />Armstrong Blvd., Sunfish Lake <br />Blvd., Nowthen Blvd., Highway 47, <br />County Road 63 to County Road 64, <br />and County Road 7 and Highway 10 <br />as long as you operate the <br />snowmobile on the right-of-way and <br />not on the road, shoulder or inside <br />slope of said road. <br />4) Between the hours of 112 hour <br />after sunset and 112 hour before <br />sunrise you operate a snowmobile on <br />these roads only on the right hand <br />side of such right-of-way in the same <br />direction as highway traffic. <br />5) Crossing any of these roads <br /> <br />must be made at a 900 angle and <br />come to a complete stop before <br />crossing. The operator must yield to <br />all. oncoming traffic. <br />6) Operation must be reasonable <br />and proper and at a speed not greater <br />than the posted speed limit on city <br />streets. <br />7) . You many not operate a <br />snowmobile: <br />. --While under the influence <br />--In the area of an airport <br />--In any tree nursery or any <br />planting area <br />--Under the age of 14, and 14 <br />to 18 only with a valid <br />Snowmobile Safety Certif- <br />icate. <br />--On private land without the <br />written permission from the <br />owner. <br />8) You may operate a <br />snowmobile on City streets but only <br />in a reasonable and prudent manner. <br />You are also required to follow all <br />traffic ordinances and statutes while <br />operating a snowmobile on City <br />streets. <br />. 9) All snowmobiles must stop <br />when so advised by audible signal or <br />signal from a law enforcement <br />officer. Failure to do so is a <br />misdemeanor. <br /> <br />These are only a portion of the <br />statutes regulating snowmobile use. <br />You may stop in at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, the Police <br />Department or any DNR office and <br />pick up a copy of the rules and <br />regulations. These and other questions <br />will be answered at the Ramsey <br />Police Department's DWI Clinic to be <br />held at the City Hall on December 15, <br />1980 at 8:00 p.m. <br />A film entitled "Driving Under the <br />Influence" will be shown. This film <br />was developed by the Los Angeles <br />Police Department with the help of <br />many residents of Los Angles <br />County. The film shows how alcohol <br />affects people. differently and how <br />these people react in driving <br />situations while under the influence <br />of alcohol. Many people do not <br />understand. the DWI laws or how <br />alcohol affects them. <br />Have you ever tried to sober <br />someone up with cold showers and <br />black coffee?
