This would essentially be an addendum to the Sergeants contract. <br />Chairperson Jeffrey,asked if the $250 plan amendment fee is the cost to set the whole plan up or <br />if the fee is per employee. <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone replied the $250 fee is the cost for the entire bargaining <br />unit. If this plan is implemented for other groups there would be no additional fee. <br />Councilmember Olson stated this is a great opportunity. <br />Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to recommend that the <br />City Council approve the Memorandum of Understanding describing the post- employment <br />health care savings plan designed for the City of Ramsey Sergeants union. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Jeffrey, Councilmembers Olson and Dehen. Voting <br />No: None. <br />Case #2: Consider Authorization to Hire a Community Service Officer <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone stated as part of the 2007 budget, the City Council • <br />authorized the creation of one new patrol officer position. That position was filled internally by <br />Community Service Officer Melissa Wistrom. The City Council granted staff authorization to <br />fill the community service officer position and an internal recruitment process was conducted. <br />Six candidates were interviewed and the Police Chief recommends that Drew Moldenhauer be <br />hired for the community service officer position. Mr. Moldenhauer has completed the <br />background check and pre - employment physical and drug screen. All results are satisfactory. <br />Ms. Reed Kone advised this community service officer position is a replacement _position and <br />will .be funded by the general fund. Staff recommends that Drew Moldenhauer be hired as a <br />community service officer at an hourly wage of $15.30 (2006 pay scale). With City Council <br />approval Mr. Moldenhauer's start date will be January 24, 2006, or soon thereafter. <br />Councilmember Dehen asked if there has been discussion by the Personnel Committee regarding <br />whether this community service officer position is needed. <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone explained the need is discussed when ,the position is <br />created. This is a matter of refilling an existing position. <br />Chairperson Jeffrey explained the creation of- positions and position levels are discussed at <br />budget time.
