As demonstrated by the chart below, public safety typically <br />accounts for the majority of the General Fund expenditures. <br /> <br />2001 PROPOSED GENERAL FUND EXPENDITURES <br /> <br />Although the City continually tries to find innovative ways to <br />increase revenues without increasing property taxes, property tax revenue <br />continues to be the major source of General Fund revenue. <br />Intergovernmental Revenues (state and federal aids) have continued to <br />decrease and currently account for less than 21 percent of the General <br />Fund revenues. <br /> <br />2001 PROJECTED GENERAL FUND REVENUES <br /> <br />Public hearings on the proposed 2001 Tax Levy and General <br />Fund Budget will be held in December. The first hearing is scheduled <br />for Monday, December 4, 2000, at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Center. <br />The public is invited to attend, as this is your opportunity to share <br />comments on the tax levy and budget with the Mayor and City Council. <br />If necessary, Monday, December 11,2000, at 6:00 p.m., has been <br />scheduled for a reconvening of the public hearing.
