Glasow
ANNUAL
TREE SALE
7
The Anoka Conservation District is
taking orders for their annual tree sale to be held
in the spring of 2002. The district is excited with
their expansion in efforts to promote restoration
of local ecosystems by also offering prairie and
meadow seed. This addition compliments our
environment and also eliminates some mowing,
encourages additional wildlife and offers a display
of color from flowers and foliage all year long.
The order form lists the native species
that are for sale and categorizing them based upon
their ecosystems. Some of the former favorites
are no longer offered because the MN DNR has
listed them as invasive species. These trees and
shrubs are growing so well that they are displacing
native plants.
Twenty -seven varieties of trees are
offered for this spring sale and also native prairie
seed. Trees and seed ordered through the District
will be available for pick -up in late April or early
May at the Anoka County Fairgrounds. The pick-
up date and times will be published in the
District's April newsletter and also published in
local newsletters in April 2002. Please call 763-
434 -2030 to get a complete order form and
descriptions of the available trees mailed to you.
NEW
IN TOWN
If you are a new resident of the City of
Ramsey, please visit the Municipal Center, also
known as City Hall, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00
p.m. Monday through Friday to pick up a new
resident packet and your recycling bin. We will
sign you up for the recycling program at that
time and provide you with information you may
need regarding the City. The Municipal Center
is located at 15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW, north
of Ramsey Elementary School on the opposite
side of the road.
