<br />4 <br /> <br />BIKE HELMETS <br /> <br />Bil<e-related crashed l<ill 900 people <br />every year and send about 567,000 to hospital <br />emergency rooms with injuries. More than 40 <br />percent of all head injury-related deaths and <br />approximately three-fourths of head injuries occur <br />among children ages 14 and under. Wearing a <br />bike helmet can reduce the risk of head <br />injury by 850/0. <br />Anol<a County SAFE KIDS wants to <br />mal<e sure your family has bil<e helmets. During <br />the month of May, we will be traveling around <br />the county distributing and PROPERLY <br />FITTING bike helmets for Anol<a County <br />residents. We will be at: <br /> <br /> <br />May 20, 2003 <br />4:30-7:00pm <br />Coon Rapids Fire #3 <br />2831 - 113th Ave NW <br /> <br />Helmets will be distributed and fitted on <br />a first come, first served basis. There is a fee of <br />$8 for each helmet. Bring the whole family, we <br />will fit adults too - and we will be happy to fit <br />helmets you already own. Let's mal<e this <br />summer a safe summer for everyone. <br /> <br />CELL PHONES NEEDED <br /> <br />The Ramsey Police Department is <br />collecting old cell phones for "Project EZ Help." <br />Donated cell phones will be refurbished and given <br />to senior citizens in the Anol<a County area to use <br />in an emergency for dialing 911. When donating <br />a phone, please mal<e sure to include the <br />char2erll battery and phone. Cell phones can <br />be dropped off at the Ramsey Police Department <br />located at 15153 Nowthen Blvd. Receipts are <br />available. <br /> <br />RAMSEY KID'S SAFETY CAMP <br />JULY 15TH & 16TH <br />8:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. <br /> <br />Registration forms for the 2nd annual Ramsey Kid's Safety <br />Camp will be available April 14th at the Police Department, City <br />Hall, and on the web at www.ci.ramsey.mn.us. Eligible campers <br />are l<id's who are entering 5th and 6th grades in the Fall of2003 <br />(current 4th and 5th graders). Entering 4th graders (current 3rd <br />graders) will have an opportunity to attend the camp if there are <br />available spaces beginning June 16th. The camp is limited to 120 <br />children and will be filled on a first come basis. Camp is held at the <br />Boy Scout Camp, located off ofHwy 47. <br />There is a $25 registration fee that includes: Two days of <br />adult supervision; activities, supplies, lunches, snacl<s and beverages; <br />bil<e helmet and fitting; Safety Camp t-shirt and hat; and a family <br />bbq and awards ceremony.
