The purpose is
to create a caring community for our youth! And it is very simple to
do. Taking time to notice kids helps them to be great l(ids! By
doing small deeds or establishing positive relationships with children
and young adults, you are helping kids succeed in life.
All children need a solid foundation to be successful in
mal(ing positive choices while growing up. The building blocks of
that foundation are called assets. The more assets youth have the
more lil(ely they are to avoid risl(y behaviors such as alcohol sex
smoking and reckless driving. Assets also lower the risk of viol~nce'
school failure, depression and suicide. '
What can you do as a Ramsey Resident? This is a
very easy question to answer, here are some examples:
. Become a part of the Andover, Anoka and Ramsey
Youth First! Meetings are held monthly at the Staff
Development Center in Anoka. Tal(e time to listen to youth
. Tell people about your life experiences
. Share your lmowledge or a hobby with a youth
. Tal(e pride in your neighborhood and demonstrate through
action
. Mal(e a commitment to demonstrate one act of asset-
building every weel( (see web site for asset information)
. Provide a safe place for youth to go if they are lonely or
scared
. Volunteer in your local school
. Donate time or materials for youth development programs
(Youth First sponsors many youth and family events in our
area! )
. Strengthen neighborhood watch and other neighborhood
programs (to start a crime watch group, contact the Ramsey
Police Department at (763)433-9891.

For more information on Youth First, please contact the
Youth First office at (763)576-5800 or email the Coordinator at
youth 1 st@ties2.net.

PLEASE NOTE

Due to the high volume of building in our community, the
City requires at least two to three days notice for all building
inspections and five to six days for building permit approval.

ATTENTION ALL
ADOPT A SPOT
& CRIME WATCH GROUPS!

If you are a participating Adopt-A-Spot or
Crime Watch Group - you must meet your
requirements of the program by hosting two
activities per year! What better time to do a clean
up or host a neighborhood gathering than before the
snow flies! If you need help planning your activity,
we have a lot of great ideas and information to get
you going.
