SAFETY CAMP UPDATE

The 2004 Ramsey Kid's Safety Camp for 2nd
through 4th graders, hosted 110 youth from the Anoka-
Ramsey area and was a huge success! Our program is
run solely on monetary and in-l(ind donations from the
community. Through the generosity of local businesses
and families, we met our fundraising goals and were
able to once again offer low registration fees and
scholarships so that all children, including at-risl( youth
can attend camp. Thank you for your support!
ELECTRIC SCOOTERS
ARE NOT LEGAL!

According to Minnesota State Statute, electric scooters
(also known as "go-peds") do not meet minimum safety
standards and cannot be legally driven on public streets. As
motorized vehicles, they are also not allowed on sidewalks,
walking or bike paths. In the State of Minnesota, electric
scooters and go-peds are only allowed to be ridden on private
property. An overview of the current state law from the
Department of Public Safety is available by contacting the
Ramsey Police Department or by visiting
www.dps.state.mn.us . ots. enforcement_pro grams/
motorize_bicycle.pdf.
Riders who violate the law will have their scooters
impounded by the Ramsey Police Department and may be
ticketed for driving without a license.

BOULEVARD STAKING POLICY

City of Ramsey policy prohibits the use of metal fence
posts and other non-breakaway materials in the public right of
way. City staff will remove materials that pose a threat to
public safety or interfere with maintenance operations. Wooden
lath are available in limited quantities at City Hall for use in
marl(ing the boulevard for snow removal purposes. Small
fiberglass poles and aluminum poles with reflectors may also be
used, but will be the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain.
The purpose of the policy is to remove stal(ing from the
public right of way that causes an unnecessary threat to public
safety and which hinders snow removal operations.
