Commissioner Brauer stated he understands what the applicant is trying to do, since he lives next <br />to the property, but they are trying to avoid someone buying a lot and starting a business ten <br />miles fi'om home. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Frolik stated that could not happen anymore, since accessory <br />structures can no longer be built unless a home is present on the parcel. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Reeve, to close the public hearing at <br />9:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Reeve, Brauer, Van Scoy and <br />Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Johnson and Shepherd. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Brauer, to recommend to staff to expand the options <br />and standards fbr home occnpations as discussed. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Brauer, Reeve, Van Scoy and <br />Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Johnson and Shepherd. <br /> <br />Case #7 <br /> <br />Public Hearing for Proposed Amendments to Chapter 9 <br /> <br />Consultant Gordon explained that this was the public hearing for the changes reviewed during <br />the April Planning Commission meeting. He noted they are going from three business districts to <br />two, and gave a brief overview of each of the districts. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt clarified these changes follow the adopted Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Consultant Gordon confirmed they did. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Steve Blakemore, 13659 Dolomite Street NW, stated there is a section of B3 east of his property <br />that is going to B2, but the new Comprehensive Plan shows that is should be going to loxv <br />density residential. <br /> <br />Winslow Halasek, of l 159 Andover Boulevard, owns the subject property and stated he wished <br />to have it remain commercial. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt explained that change would require a minor amendment to the Comprehensive <br />Plan. <br /> <br />The owner asked why he was not notified this change was taking place. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt stated there have been public meetings on this issue for several years. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/May 1, 2003 <br /> Page 12 of 17 <br /> <br /> <br />
