This project is planned for development
directly adjacent to Mississippi West Regional Park.

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with written comments regarding several issues
pertaining to this proposal. The following observation and recommendations are made:

1) Ballfieid Lighting - We are concerned about the effect of spillover lighting, from the
ballfields, onto Mississippi West Regional Park. At such time the park is developed, it is
likely that trails and picnic areas will be placed in close proximity to the proposed
development (see enclosed map). A variety of evening uses will occur in these areas, such
as interpretive programs, evening hikes, and other County led programs. The impact of
direct spillover light into the park would have a detrimental impact on park uses.

We would recommend that the develoPer ntilize a sports lighting system that significantly
reduces glare and spill lighting. A system such as the Musco Sports Cluster II with level 8
glare control, or an equivalent, would reduce glare and spill by up to 90%.

2) Trespass Potential - With the sports bar being located directly adjacent to the park, we
are concerned about the possibility of trespass onto the park property, particularly after the
park is closed in the evening. Our current park ordinance requires that the park be closed to
public access at sunset except for County led programs or reserved use. Because the sports
bar will presumably be open late in the evening there is an issue with possible trespass
o~' bar patrons into the park. This is of special concern since so many of the activities
at the sports complex will occur on the grounds directly adjoining the park.

Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
