<br />City of Ramsey <br />Active Community Planning Proposal <br />Deadline: June I, 2007 <br /> <br />Capacity for facilitating the adaptation of active living principles to codes, zoning, and ordinances. Access to <br />funds and decision-making power to implement projects <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey has seven staff members within the planning division to dedicate time to bringing the <br /> <br />City's ordinances and zoning regulations in to compliance with the Comprehensive Plan. The City has a proven <br /> <br />record of obtaining and implementing grants and awards from a variety of agencies including the Metropolitan <br /> <br />Council, the Federal government, and other non-profit and governmental agencies. <br /> <br />Commitment by governmental leaders to develop and enact policies and projects directly resulting from the <br />planning process <br /> <br />Ramsey's City Council exemplifies an ability to look to the future. Through the Ramsey 3 visioning <br /> <br />process, the development of the innovative Town Center zoning districts, and their long-term. commitment to <br /> <br />developing and enhancing the parks and trails systems, the policymakers have made true on their commitments to <br /> <br />represent the values of this community. Additionally, the City Council has passed a resolution in support of <br /> <br />promoting physical activity and active living. <br /> <br />Description of other funding to conduct similar work in Minnesota. <br /> <br />The City is not involved or aware of any other funding in Minnesota related to planning for the promotion <br /> <br />of active lifestyles. <br /> <br />Page 10 of 16 <br /> <br />-217- <br />
