-94- <br /> <br />Station #3 Land Acquisition Discussion <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler reported that in the 2003 Capital Improvements Program (CIP)' $50,000 has <br />been slotted fbr property acquisition for Fire Station No..3. He identified some possible <br />locations and explained that if development does. occur along C.R. #5 and #63 in the future, he <br />would recommend that any development agreement include a certain amount of land dedication <br />for a future fire station. (Chief Kapler guessed two acres would be adequate.) Consensus of the <br />PSB was that the City should pursue land for a future Fire Station #3 in 2003, in accordance with <br />the City's CIP. <br /> <br />Council Action: Motion to ratify the direction of the PSB and pursue land for a fitture Fire <br />Station #3 in 2003, in accordance with the City's CIP. <br /> <br />List of Services Discussion and Adoption <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler presented a list to the PSB of services that Firefighters will provide within the <br />City. The cun'ent list, without the suggested amendments is attached for Council review. The <br />Public Safety Board suggested adding the following amendments to the list: fire prevention, <br />education, inspection and investigation, mass casualty, state how higl~low rescue will be <br />provided, emergency response, plalming and exercise. The PSB then recommended that the City <br />Council adopt the list as amended. <br /> <br />Council Action: Motiott to adopt the current list of services provided, plus the amendments <br />listed as suggested by the PSB. <br /> <br />· Permit Burning Process <br /> <br />The Public Safety Board discussed the hours of burning permitted for recreational fires. <br />Consensus of the Board was to change the hours of burn from 6:00 p:m.'to 6:00 a.m. to noon to <br />6:00 a.m. on weekends and federal holidays. A change would have to be done via City Council <br />ordinance as this would amend the City's Code. <br /> <br />Council Action: Motion to direct staff to draft an ordinance to amend City Code to change the <br />hours for recreational fires to noon to 6:00 a.m. on weekends and federal holidays. <br /> <br />Station Numbering/Identification Discussion <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler informed the PSB of the suggestion that the fire station on ArmstrOng <br />BoUlevard be changed to Fire Station #1 since is it now the primary station.
