-50- <br /> <br />Resources Manager effective December 26, 2002, and ratify utilizing the services of Curt <br />Boganey as Interim Human Resources Manager and direct staff to begin the recruitment process. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, Cook, Elvig, Pearson, <br />strommen, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br /> Case #3: Ratify Hiring of Police Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Interim Human Resources Manager Boganey stated that at their regular meeting on November <br />12, ·2002, the City' CounCil authorized the recruitment for a vacant Police Patrol-Officer position <br />resulting from the retirement of former Police Chief, David Gustafson and subsequent internal <br />promotions. The position was advertised externally and 62 applications were receivedl <br />Interviews were conducted with 23 of the applicants by a panel consisting of the First Sergeant <br />Tim Dwyer, Sergeant Bob Kuhn, Sergeant Brad Paplham, Investigator Sheldon Erdman, and the <br />Assistant City Administrator. Based on the panel's reCommendation, Ms. Wieler began work <br />with the Department on January 6, 2003, and staff requested ratification of the hiring of Gina <br />Wieler for the position of Police Patrol Officer at a starting wage of $37,350/annually plus <br />benefits and accruing vacation per City policy and LELS contract. Ms. Wieler has successfully <br />· completed background checks, physical agility testing, and passed an employment physical and <br />drug/alcohol screen. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to recommend that <br />the City Council adopt a'resolution ratifying the hiring of Gina Wieler for the position of full- <br />time Police Patrol Officer at a starting wage of $37,350/annually plus benefits and vacation per <br />City policy and LELS contract, subject to a one-year probatiOnary period.. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, CounCilmembers Kurak, Strommen, Cook, Elvig, <br />Pearson, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #4: COnsider Re-Appointments to Planning Commission <br /> <br />Interim Human Resources Manager Boganey stated that as of the end of 2002, three members of <br />the Planning Commission completed their first four-year term. Eacl~ of these members were <br />contacted regarding their interest in being re-appointed for a second and final term on the <br />Planning Commission. Commissioners JohnsOn and Nixt both expressed their desire to be. re- <br />appointed and Commissioner Kociscak expressed his desire not to be re-appointed.
