Kveton. The Task ForCe Was impressed by all
three of the candidates and their credentials. After extensive discussion, the Task 'Force made a
recommendation to the City Council to expand the Task Force from Seven members to nine
members and appoint all three candidates to the Town Center Task Force. That recommendation
was presented to the City Council at their regular meeting .of November 19, 2002. After
significant discussion, the item was tabled until the first meeting in January. Central to the City
Council discussion on November 19, 2002, was the fact that two of the current members of' the
Town Center Task Force were elected to City Council during the general election on November
4, 2002. The Council consensus was that the structure of the Town Center Task Force needed to
be discussed by the 2003 City Council. DiscUssion of this issue, as well as, the Council's role on
the Task Force, took place at a work Session with the newly elected members on December 17,
2002. The consensus of the discussion on December 17, 2002, was that a member of the Council
serve as a liaison to the Town Center Task Force and the recommendatiOn was that-Al Pearson
serve as the liaison for 2003.

Councilmember Kurak stated that she felt that nine members on the Task Force might be too
many and Chris Reilly from EDA has requested that his position on the Task Force. be rePlaced.
It was. her recommendation that they do not replace Chris Reilly.

Councilmember Elvig noted that when the Task Force was created, liaisons were apPointed from
the Planning Commission and the EDA.

Councilmember Kurak replied that Mr. Reilly has not been attending any of the Task Force
meetings. She inquired if there has been an issue with attendance by any other'members on the
Task Force.

Councilmember Elvig stated that there was a problem for a while with Eric Watson nOt attending
meetings, but he has been to the last couple of'meetings.

Councilmember Cook inquired if all eight members were voting members or .are Commission
liaisons non-voting members.

Personnel Committee/January 14,. 2003

-51-
