<br />Case # I <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7, SECTION 7.61 <br />ENTITLED "LAWFUL GAMBLING" OF THE CITY CODE AND CALL FOR A <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On June 27, 1994, Ordinance #94-05 repealed and replaced S7.61 of the City Code entitled <br />"Lawful Gambling". This was the last time the City had updated its gambling ordinance. <br /> <br />To more closely match the gambling ordinances of neighboring cities in both terminology and <br />contribution rates, City Council was presented with proposed changes to the ordinance at <br />worksessions on April 3 and May 8, 2007. <br /> <br />The proposed changes (represented in bold on the attached amended ordinance draft) are as such: <br /> <br />_ Contribution of 5% to the City's Charitable Gambling Fund <br /> <br />_ Busines:s or operation needs to be located in the City of Ramsey for at least two <br />years. A grandfather clause was included for two current premise permit <br />holders who are not located within the City. <br /> <br />_ Detaile~ quarterly reports reflecting how each organization spent their <br />require~ 75% "Lawful Purpose Expenditures" within City's trade area <br />Failure to report will be brought back to City Council for discussion on whether <br />or not tol revoke premise permit. <br /> <br /> <br />The amended ordinancel would go into effect for those organizations currently holding a premise <br />permit(s) on August 1,2007. . <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to introduce Ordinance #07-XX Amending Section 7.61 of the City Code entitled <br />"Lawful Gambling" and calling for a public hearing on June 26, 2007. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br /> <br />cc: 6/12/07 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />-95- <br />
