CSAH 57
Response to Public Comments

Page 2

June 18,2007

Anoka County recognizes that roadway improvements that respond to the growing level of traffic
require driving patterns that are less convenient than current patterns. To safely and efficiently move
the projected volume of traffic, however, the addition of the raised median and channelized turn lanes
is necessary. The County reminds all drivers that driving over the raised median to take a left turn and
making V-turns at the railroad crossing opening are each illegal and dangerous.

COM.M ,Reconstruction CSAJ-I 57 should include a median opening ati'vtcKinley Street to allow
employee and truck access to the Gate'vvay Hu.$inessPlaza and provide an altemative to perf<mning a U-turn
at the railroad crossing,

RESPONSE: A m.edian opening is being considered D)r the IbHowing reasons:

'l!> A protected kIt turn lane at Street allowing northbmmd-to-sQufhbound U-turns
'11U' " ill ini illi?(c TV""".!]"[""j' .;'1 "l'I'" la,iVt::!nl TT-I1"I""'~j~' ',)t i'h;.c "''''1( lffj"t'l CrnS""!'!1(J' ("Vi'fj thOllg7h tbey (f)lll(l bf'
.a..l:. Using
projected traffic volumes generated as part ofthe City of Ramsey's AUAR for the Rmnsey Town
Center project. it was determined that a taur-Iane roadway section for Sunfish Lake Boulevard wiH
meet the futuTc needs of the corridor in addition to increasing the roadway's current level of service.

in.creasr;; nnrn

, C:!osing the med.ian on Sun/ish
custorners USIng the western 10) entrance In Sunllsh
\vh:ile n:lcrg:ulg

lS to

to cross

-=:.\ ,.'< >.~
~S {.~ .

1"1.UT1. n~l()Vt;;rncIlts :iJlt{)
