Case tt9 Report from Finance Committee: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Authorize Purchase of Two Police Squads and Approve Budget Amendment to Cover <br />Capital Costs <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder advised the Finance Committee recommends Council approval of <br />Option One to purchase two squad cars. It is estimated the set-up could be approximately $3,500 <br />beyond the budget and staff recommends this deficit be addressed by a subsequent budget <br />amendment. The Finance Committee also recommends staff be directed to prepare a budget <br />amendment resolution for consideration on the next consent agenda. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to approve Option One <br />and to direct staff to prepare a budget amendment resolution for consideration on the next ~~'~r~c~, <br />agenda. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Haas Steffen and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Consideration of Unallocated 1997 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) <br />Funds <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder advised the Finance Committee recommends the Council direct City <br />Staffto prepare a resolution for Council consideration to allocate CDBG funds for planning activities; <br />to allocate a maximum of $20,000 towards Comprehensive Plan activities and a maximum of $7,000 <br />towards a senior housing needs assessment. It was noted this will leave approximately $10,000 <br />unallocated. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to direct City Staff <br />to prepare a resolution for Council consideration to reallocate CDBG funds for planning purposes. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Haas Steffen, Beahen and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT <br /> <br />1) Council Calender and Agendas <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen requested the monthly calendar include non-regulatory functions as <br />well. Mayor Gamec noted the Council's agenda will now be received on Wednesday night which will <br />provide additional time for review. <br /> <br />2) MN Shade Tree Award Luncheon <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder advised the City Forester has indicated the Minnesota Shade Tree <br />Awards Luncheon will be held this Thursday at Majestic Oaks and asked if any Councilmember is <br />available to attend.
