In January, the building department informed all permittees of this
ordinance requirement. At that time there were 30 different parcels subject to the ordinance
requirements. In April, staff provided second notices to the affected parties and as of June 16,
1997, there were 13 properties still not in compliance with the ordinance. The Building Official,
by ordinance, has granted extensions to July 1, 1997, to complete the required work. The normal
course of action for noncompliance with nuisance ordinances is to forward the issue to the City
Attorney but prior to doing so, staff is asking that Council provide any additional time they feel
is necessary.

Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to grant an
extension to compliance with the siding ordinance to October 31, 1997.

Motion carried.
