Absent: CouncilmemberHaas Steffen. <br /> <br />3) Discuss Staffing Alternatives to Meet Needs Identified During Budget Preparation <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith stated that the Personnel Committee had been <br />given information relative to the staffing needs as it relates to the 1998 budget and that they will <br />be discussed at the September 9, 1997 Personnel Committee meeting. <br /> <br />4) Accept Resignation of City Administrator <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager reported that Mr. Schroeder had announced his resignation as <br />City Administrator for Ramsey and had accepted a position of City Administrator with the City <br />of Cottage Grove. The Personnel Committee recommended accepting Mr. Schroeder's <br />resignation and also waiving the 60-day notice requirement, inasmuch as he provided as much <br />notice as possible, given the requirements of his prospective employer. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to accept Mr. <br />Schroeder's resignation, effective September 26, 1997, and to waive the 60-day notice-of- <br />resignation requirement. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Mayor Gamec thanked Mr. Schroeder for his years of service and felt that he <br />should be credited with the good commercial growth that has happened in the City. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zimmerman, Beyer and Beahen. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberHaas Steffen. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to adopt Resolution <br />#97-08-214 authorizing the appointment of Linda Waite Smith as Acting City Administrator and <br />that she be compensated in the amount of $370 per pay period while serving in this capacity. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen and Zimmerman. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Council was to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 1997, to discuss <br />the hiring process for a new City Administrator. <br /> <br />Case #10: Amendment to Pawnbrokers Licensing Section of the City Code <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich presented, for adoption, the ordinance that was introduced at the last <br />Council meeting, amending the pawnbrokers licensing section of the City Code. The change is <br />that pawnbrokers will be required to maintain the property pledged for at least 60 days as <br />opposed to the current 30-days and that all pawnbrokers must print, on each pawn ticket, a <br />statement with regard to the pledgor's rights of redemption, etc., with regard to the pledged <br />property. <br /> <br />City Council/August 26, 1997 <br /> Page 10 of 18 <br /> <br /> <br />
