<br />following information: number of signs, type of signs, sign sizes, and type of construction <br />materials. <br /> <br />9.12.09 <br /> <br />Construction Specifications <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. All signs permitted by this Section in excess of sixteen (16) <br />square feet shall be painted, lettered, or faced to the workmanship standards and best commerCial <br />practices of companies normally engaged in the business of providing commercial signs, using <br />materials designed and marketed specifically for use on outdoor signs. <br /> <br />Subd. 2. In addition to complying with the provisions ofthis ordinance, all signs <br />shall be constructed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the current edition of the <br />Minnesota State Building Code. <br />Subd. 3. All signs shall be located in such a way that they maintain horizontal <br />and vertical clearance of all electrical power lines and communication lines. <br /> <br />Subd. 4. All signs and their supporting structures shall maintain clearance and <br />non-interference with all surface and underground facilities and conduits for water, sewage, gas, <br />electricity, or communications equipment or lines, In addition, the placement of all signs and <br />their supporting structures shall not interfere with natural or artificial drainage or surface or <br />underground water. <br /> <br />Subd. 5. All signs, except those attached flat against the wall of a building shall <br />be constructed to withstand minimum wind loads as follows: <br /> <br />a. Solid Signs. Thirty (30) pounds per square foot per face of the sign. <br /> <br />b. Open Signs. Thirty-six (36) pounds per square foot of the total face area of <br />the letters and other sign surfaces, or ten (1 0) pounds per square foot of the <br />gross surface area of the sign, whichever is greater. <br /> <br />9.12.10 <br /> <br />Non-conforming Signs <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. Any permanent type sign lawfully existing prior to the adoption <br />of this Section that does not meet the standards of this Section shall be considered legal non- <br />conforming and shall be allowed to continue in use. Other than for change of copy or normal <br />maintenance, a legal non-conforming sign shall lose the designation "legal non-conforming" In <br />accordance with State Statute.If any property use or business changes ownership, all Commercial <br />Speech signson that property shall be brought into conformity with this Section within twelve <br />(12) months of the date on which use or ownership changed. <br /> <br />9.12.11 <br /> <br />Permits Required <br /> <br />Subdivision 1.
