Council, an amendment could be made to the 1998 CIP if'the land is to be purchased in <br />1998. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Droegemueller and seconded by Commissioner Rolfe to request <br />a joint meeting with City Council to discuss the CIP and Community Park. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Chair Cook, Commissioners Droegemueller, Rolfe, and <br />LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Asfahl, Johns, and Ostrum. <br /> <br />Commission consensus was to have the joint meeting at a time most convenient for <br />Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated a joint meeting would be conducted after the new City Administrator <br />has been hired. He indicated Council would like to discuss the Halverson property and <br />also the need for additional fields. He said Council may ask the Commission to consider a <br />pool be included in a Community Center along with more meeting areas. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec indicated Council would be visiting the Becker Community Center to view <br />their layout. Commissioner Rolfe requested the Commission be invited to attend the <br />Becker tour. Chair Cook suggested incorporating a theater into the City Center to include <br />the arts, in order to have the facility be more than just an athletic arena. <br /> <br />Case #2: Update on Visioning Process <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated the City is continuing the visioning process of the Comprehensive Plan. <br />He indicated three separate focus group meetings will be occurring during December. He <br />advised a random telephone poll of residents was conducted and reminded the <br />Commission to review the survey results which were included in their agenda packet. <br /> <br />Case #3: 1997 - 1998 Skating Season <br /> <br />Mr. Boos advised that warming houses at Central Park and Ramsey Elementary School <br />are scheduled to open at 3:30 p.m. on December 19th. He indicated recent temperatures <br />have been too warm to continue flooding rinks, however, as soon as temperatures are <br />consistently below freezing, 24-hour flooding will resume. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated skating will be available at Central Park, Ramsey Elementary School, <br />Rivers Bend, Woodland Green, Riverwood Hills, and Rabbit Park. He said a second rink <br />attendant would be added to Central Park and Ramsey Elementary School on Friday and <br />Saturday evenings, and noted both of these parks are the only ones with outdoor lighting. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos advertised that rink attendants are still needed and requested anyone interested <br />contact City Hall. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/December 11, 1997 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
