<br />Mr. Patrick Trudgeon presented his 120-Day Action Plan for the City of Ramsey. He stated his <br />plan is divided into three sections: Basic Operating Principles, a Transition Plan, and Current <br />Issues Action Plan. Mr. Trudgeon expanded upon the three actions, identifying objectives, <br />performance measure, and subtasks tied to a specific timetable. <br /> <br />Mr. Trudgeon stated he is able, ready, and willing to take the position. <br /> <br />QUESTIONS FROM COUNCIL: <br /> <br />1. How will you be able to "wean" yourself from the Community Development position <br />and become more of a generalist? <br /> <br />Mr. Trudgeon stated he believes it is important that he consciously do this. He stated he has <br />been preparing his staff to take over in the interim. He believes most tasks could be handled <br />with minimal intervention from him. <br /> <br />2. Tell us about a time when you had to persuade others to commit to an objective or <br />goal. What was your approach? How did they respond? <br /> <br />Mr. Trudgeon replied Ramsey3 with the public. He stated there was skepticism; however, <br />through communication it is moving along. <br /> <br />3. How do you make trade-off between ideal long-term goals and. short-term <br />immediate results? Use one of your recent projects as an example. <br /> <br />Mr. Trudgeon replied the Ramsey Town Center has been a long hall. Along the way, some easy <br />victories have been realized. With the legal challenges, you must think about the long-term <br />results. It is important as an organization to make decisions that have a big impact with minimal <br />cost. <br /> <br />4. We have all acted in haste at some point. Tell us about a situation in which you said <br />or did something during negotiations that you later regretted. What happened? <br /> <br />Mr. Trudgeon replied internal staff meetings, with his mind made up as to the decision and not <br />listening well. The important thing is to learn from it and make apologies. <br /> <br />5. Describe a time when it was particularly difficult for you to see a situation from <br />another person's point of view. How did this affect the project? Were you able to <br />come to see things from their perspective? <br /> <br />Mr. Trudgeon replied the most difficult time when they talked about Fish Lake. He had desires <br />to make this happen. He met with resistance, but as they struggled through, he began to value <br />the opinions and expertise of others. He stated consensus building resolved issues. <br /> <br />6. Have you ever encountered a case of insubordination among a staff member?
