FC CASE <br /> <br />AWARD BIDS FOR PARK SHELTER CONSTRUCTION AT EMERALD POND <br />AND RIVERS BEND PARKS <br /> By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On April 22, 1997, City Council authorized advertisement for bids for the construction of <br />park shelters at Emerald Pond and Rivers Bend Parks. <br /> <br />The bids were opened at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 1997. Three bids were <br />received that met the specifications. Included with this case are the following <br />attachments: <br /> <br />1) <br />2) <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Summary of Park Shelter Bid Opening. <br />Individual bid sheets from each bidder: <br /> E.F. Anderson <br /> St. Croix Recreation <br /> Flanagan Sales <br />Park Project Funding Status Reports: <br /> Rivers Bend Park <br /> Emerald Pond Park <br /> <br />Based on the information provided, it would be the intent to have both park shelters <br />constructed with cedar shingles and cupola. St. Croix Recreation was the successful low <br />bidder at $47,090 for both shelters. Anderson $48,420 $8,300 $2,800 $59,520 <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The approved shelter budget for Rivers Bend Park is $31,991. The approved shelter <br />budget for Emerald Pond Park is $30,000. It is estimated that approximately $1,810 or <br />4% was saved by bidding and installing both shelters at the same time. <br /> <br />Included with St. Croix Recreations bid packet was the ability to add weather vanes on <br />the shelters. The City of Burnsville currently has had one in use for the last year and has <br />found it to be durable and an attractive addition to the shelter. The cost for the addition <br />of a weather vane is $350 for each shelter. <br /> <br /> <br />
