FC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE ENTERING INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE DNR FOR $1,000 <br />SNOWMOBILE SAFETY ENFORCEMENT GRANT <br /> By: Jessie Hart, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On October 8, 1997, the Ramsey Police Department was notified that the city qualifies for <br />funding in the amount of $1,000 through the Snowmobile Safety Enforcement Grant Funding <br />program. <br /> <br />This grant money can be used to fund or supplement the enforcement of all snowmobile statutes, <br />regulations and rules, including but not limited to alcohol related offenses and illegal operation <br />of snowmobiles. It can fund the overtime incurred or the special equipment required to provide <br />these enforcement services and requires no matching funds from the City. <br /> <br />The completed application must be submitted to the DNR by October 31, 1997, with the grant <br />monies being provided approximately four weeks later. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the application be completed and the agreement signed by the Police <br />Chief, Mayor and the Finance Officer and submitted by the October 31, 1997 deadline. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Recommend Council authorize acceptance of the Snowmobile Safety Enforcement Grant in the <br />amount of $1,000 and direct staff to submit the application and agreement with appropriate <br />signatures. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br />Police Chief <br /> <br />FC: 10/28/97 <br /> <br /> <br />
