<br />The Board and staff discussed the following in relation to the concept of a green business tour: <br /> <br />. The EDA has discussed becoming involved in retail development in the City <br />. The EDA has discussed what they can do for existing businesses in the City <br />. Green businesses are an economic development sector in the City that is not often paid <br />attention to <br />. Possibility of the EDA web site including an acknowledgment that would run for a few <br />months about Ramsey's green component <br />. Utilizing tools like the Ramsey Resident and City website to benefit commerce in the <br />City - possibility of a business profile in the Ramsey Resident and on the City web site <br />. Possibility of "Shop Ramsey First" with endorsement by the EDA <br />. Link from the Chamber website to the City website with an interactive list of categorized <br />Ramsey businesses - utilization of the business certification registrations to create the list <br />. Industry spotlight in the newsletter, beginning with green businesses and following up <br />with other industries <br />. QCTV business spotlight focusing on green businesses in the spring <br /> <br />Consensus of the Board was to direct staff to schedule a future agenda item with additional <br />information on this topic, including ideas and concepts to consider. <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />Business Appreciation Day Update <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated the Business Appreciation Day Golf Event <br />has been filled and is at 36 teams. Currently $1,000 is allocated towards the event; however, <br />they should be able to break even at net zero. There will be good attendance at the event from <br />EDA, Council and staff department heads. In past years there were City teams; this year there <br />will be no more than two staff members on a team to encourage networking. <br /> <br />Member Elvig left the meeting at 8:35 a.m. <br /> <br />Chairperson Riley inquired about hole sponsors for the event. Economic Development <br />Coordinator Sullivan replied if multiple people want to sponsor the holes there would be two <br />sponsors on a hole. At this point there are 16 sponsors that will be at the event; the other <br />sponsors will have a sign posted at the hole. There could be multiple hole sponsors with signs at <br />a hole. <br /> <br />Case #5: <br /> <br />Bennett Cooper Flooring Remodel <br /> <br />Economic Development Consultant Mulrooney stated Bennett Cooper Flooring relocated to <br />Ramsey along Highway 10 from Spring Lake Park last year. The property Bennett Cooper <br />acquired is the former home of Anoka Ramsey Sports. Part of the reason for moving to Ramsey <br />is that they were strictly a carpet wholesale operation until their move, dealing directly with <br />contractors. The nlove to this property in Ramsey provided them with visibility along Highway <br />10. The business started in 1993. The property they acquired includes a 10,500 square foot <br />office/showroom building and 12,000 square foot warehouse building located on approximately <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority/August 9, 2007 <br />Page 6 of9 <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />
