CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 5 WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE MUNICIPAL <br />REGULATIONS CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ADDING SECTION 5.20 (ULTIMATE FIGHTING) OF THE <br />CITY CODE <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />This ordinance is adopted pursuant to and under the authority of the Charter of the City of <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. AMENDMENT <br /> <br />Chapter 5 is hereby amended by adding Section 5.20 language as follows. <br /> <br />5.20 ULTIMATE FIGHTING <br /> <br />5.20.01 Purpose. The purpose of this section is to prevent the practice of <br />Ultimate Fighting. The City Council finds that the practice of ultimate fighting is <br />dangerous and puts individuals and the public health, safety and welfare at great risk. <br /> <br />5.20.02 Definition. Ultimate fighting is any activity, r~gardless of how named or <br />described, or any form of entertainment, where the primary practice involves individuals <br />in physical activity by striking the opponent with hands, head, feet or body. This shall <br />include, but not limited to, any event where kicking, punching, martial arts or submission <br />holds are permitted. <br /> <br />5.20.03 Prohibited Conduct. It shall be unlawful in any public or private place to <br />organize, permit, be present at, or to participate in the practice of ultimate. fighting. <br />Officially sanctioned and regulated boxing, martial arts, wrestling and team sports in <br />which physical conduct is incidental to the primary purpose of the game, such as hockey, <br />basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball, are not included among activities <br />prohibited by this section. <br /> <br />5.20.04 <br /> <br />Penalties. A violation of this section is a misdemeanor. <br /> <br />-338- <br />
