Awarding the bid in the amount of $103.50 would not generate sufficient income to allow
the Public Works Department to finish the foundation removal and restoration work. It is
suspected that the weak housing market contributed to the low bid received. It may be
possible to consider rebidding this work in late winter of 2008 if there would be a
rebound in the housing market. Alternatively, it may be possible to add a separate
schedule to the road construction for the removal of the residence. This would minimize
impact to the neighborhood by limiting construction to a single event and would save the
cost of a separate mobilization for the house removal.
Financial Impact:
It is estimated that the cost of removing and filling the foundation of this residence by the
Public Works Department following removal of the house superstructure would be
approximately $10,000. There is currently no identified funding source for this work.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that all bids for the for sale of the surplus property located
5860 157 Lane be rejected.
Action:
Motion to reject all bids for the sale of the surplus property located at 5860 157 Lane.
Reviewed By: /
City Administrator: (
Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer
City Attorney
Street Superintendent
CC: 10/09/07
