PC CASE # <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE A <br />PART -TIME POLICE TECHNICIAN <br />By: Givonna Reed Kon6, Human Resources Manager <br />Background <br />The' City's former part-time Police Technician, Kelly Schmidt, resigned from her position <br />effective August 17, 2007. On August 14, 2007, staff was authorized to conduct a <br />recruitment process to fill this vacancy. <br />A recruitment process was conducted and staff received approximately 90 applications. <br />Eleven individuals were interviewed and staff is recommending that Stacy Michelson be <br />hired as the City's new part-time Police Technician. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee recommend Stacy Michelson for the <br />part-time Police Technician position. Ms. Michelson's background check and pre - <br />employment physical and drug screen results are satisfactory. With City Council approval, <br />Ms. Michelson's start date will be October 24, 2007 and her starting wage will be $16.23 per <br />hour. Ms. Michelson will be subject to a six month probationary period and all other <br />personnel policies will apply normally. <br />Funding Source <br />This 20 -hour per week position was has been in the City's budget for many years and was <br />included in the 2007 General Fund Budget. No additional funding is required to fill this <br />position. <br />Committee Action <br />Make a motion recommending that the City Council hire Stacy Michelson as a part-time <br />Police Technician at an hourly rate of $16.23, effective October 24, 2007.
