Chairperson <br />Bawden reminded the Commission to stick with the issue at hand. <br /> <br />Mr. Hauan asserted there is no need for berming. Commissioner Holland inquired regarding <br />the purpose ofberming in the industrial area. Ms. Frolik explained that City Code required <br />outside storage be screened, and screening must be at least five feet high; screening can be <br />plantings, berming, fencing, or a combination thereof. Berming would intensify the effect <br />of the trees. Mr. Hauan stated that he planned to plant 5'-6' pine trees for the screening. <br />Commissioner Deemer asked if Mr. Hauan intended to maintain the pine trees. Mr. Hauan <br />stated that he would install a sprinkler system and maintain the trees. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thorud asked if there would be a dnmpster on the site. Mr. Hauan stated that <br />he hadn't yet considered a dumpster, but had no problem with fencing one in. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer asked if surmountable curbing could be placed on the sides of the <br />parking lot not intended for 612 curbing to protect the asphalt edges. Chairperson Bawden <br />stated that he had no problem with the curbing as proposed. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik asked about placing fresh Class 5 in the deteriorating storage area. Mr. Hauan <br />expressed that he did not think the extra expense for fresh Class 5 was justified. Chairperson <br />Bawden stated that ffthe City waives certain items, in many cases they end up with a mess. <br />Mr. Hauan stated that it was a garbage dump and he was improving it. He stated that at this <br />point, grading was sufficient. Commissioner Jensen stated that she would like the berming. <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden asked the Commission's feelings on hardsurfacing. Commissioner <br />Thorud stated that he had no problems with the hardsurfacing. Commissioner Terry stated <br />that he likes the idea of a surmountable curb. Commissioner Deemer stated that a raised <br />sidewalk could replace the curbing along the front of the parking lot. Commissioner Terry <br />stated that he had no problem. Commissioner Holland stated that he was flexible with the <br />curbing. <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden inquired about a lighting plan. Mr. Hauan stated that there was no <br />planned lighting and that there was a streeflight next to the property. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer stated that the pavement needs to be maintained. Chairperson <br />Bawden suggested that the drainage and grading be worked out with the City Engineer. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Holland and seconded by Commissioner LaDue to require drainage <br />and grading plan with a detention pond. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Commissioners Holland, LaDue, Jensen, and Thorud.
